Reel Fun offers a great range of tackle and bait, not just for those of us with boats in the nearby marina, but for shore and coarse anglers as well. Local knowledge and catch reports are available from Steve and co. Be advised that as with all shops that sell good quality baits such as the lug and ragworm it is a good idea to pre-order to avoid disappointment. Steve will always be happy to put together large orders, ready for collection, for any groups booked onto the charter boats fishing out of Portishead Marina. Big bonus of the cafe being right next to the shop.
Sonik hit the nail on the head with this rod very light fantastic tip for bites and will happily chuck 3oz to 6oz plus baits coupled with a good fixed spool light lines imo best on the market in the price range
Really pleased with the reliability of my Ultra. I use the accu 2 battery on the headband with a spare to hand in the tackle box. The lowest setting is bright enough for baiting up etc and gives plenty of time.
Another great mixed ground rod from Leeda who make excellent rods but their fitting can let them down
Having fished the circuits for over 25 years.age is a factor now . Slinging heavy rids out at distance. So when i decided too move over too the continental type set ups..i was quite sceptical .after trying numerous big brand names .lighter lines ect ect Purchased the Cobra 4.2 and can honestly say .ive put that rod through hell.and can only have praise for this rod.its covered scratching over clean ground right through too heavily mixed ground. Bite detection is superb..casts like an absolute dream.minimal effort too hit around the 100 yard mark with a clipped down rig and 4/5oz sinker Right through too practically fishing under the rod tip for Flounders in my local Estuary. YES i still use my heavier rods for certain occasions .but my go too rod now is the Cobra GT.due too its versatility. This is just my honest opinion on the Cobra GT 4.2 model. Hope this reveiw is helpful
This weight tray is completely useless however when you add the toppa tray to it, it's superb. The reel holders only hold Abu reels and the line holders arnt too good
I have been out with Dan a few times, he is a genuine nice bloke who is passionate about his fishing as well as providing a great time for those that fish on his boat. I have taken my boys out with him aged 8 and 12 and the way he looked after them and helped them was well beyond what was expected he was so patient even when every time they saw the tip bounce they were shouting "I got a bite" He helped them throughout the whole session and nothing was too much. He has built up a great reputation and is becoming very well known. If you want a great day out with a laugh and some fish then Dan is the Man. But you will need to book in advance as he is very busy and that should tell you everything you need to know about him.
Really useful addition to the tackle box, keeps elastic dry and clean and is easy to use. Always seem to have a tag left hanging out after snapping off which makes things easier when hands are wet, cold or both.
Great advice, great service, great selection, great rod and reel repairs. Nick, there owner, is a brilliant bloke and always up for a bit of banter or just a fishing chat. Also if you spend all of your pocket money in there for 3 years solid he might, I said might, make you a cup of coffee. Might.
The best quality bait tackle and advice in the area. The expert staff are friendly and truly helpful a positive experience for any angler expert or novice.
Really like this line. Have used for many years. Have tried others but always go back to using it. I use fixed spools and find comes of reel and casts well. Normally use 16lb or 14lb. Both knot really well with good abrasion resistance and not to much stretch. The strength to diameter is good with 16-0.33 and 14-0.30 Also use the red crystal which is the same quality but not so good for night fishing if you like to see your line.
Penn surblaster in my opinion is the most reliable and hard working reel you will find for the small price. I personally think you will never find a more reliable reel anywhere for the price
Brilliant line for loading up for the rough stuff. The 30lb is incredibly strong and the abrasion resistance is excellent. You don't mind losing it when it's this cheap either.
Solent tackle excellent shop with a huge range of fresh and frozen baits. Pete will always go the extra mile to help.
Great top for showers but wouldn't recent it for heavy rain as the rain tends to soak through but does the job when you get caught out and folds down nicely and fits in box snug
I use this rod for the majority of my fishing which is mainly rough ground along with a saltist 20 or 30 which is a awesome combination. Very responsive and the bite indication is a superb for such a rod. Casting is easy and big distances are easily achieveable even with an over heard thump. It took me a few sessions to suss this rod out and now I have I love it.
Hmmmmm,,, these used to be brilliant... Far from it now. They have always been fiddly little sods to put together, that's fine, and when they work, they work brilliantly. But, unfortunately it seems that the metal they now make the bodies out of is now shockingly bad. Over two weeks fishing in the very cold -5 to -10 in Northern Norway I had about 12 of these fail by either bending way out of shape on the cast (pendulem, but not mega powerfull) or just completely snapping and losing a lead after casting in. Would not recomend these at all now as potentially dangerous on the cast. Not happy. Go back to your original steel Breakaway and stop being cheap-skates !
Dont be decieved by the slim blank this is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Very light great bite detection and surprisingly powerful, one of my fav all time rods. It's a great price for a great rod. It casts effortlessly and very user friendly. You can feel everything the fish is doing a 5lb Cod is great sport and alot of fun.
Perfect for taking a minimal amount of bait with you. The less air within the cool bag the better insulated your bait will be, so it makes sense to use as small a bag as you can get away with. Two or three packs of sandeels pop in nicely; just the job for those Spring ray sessions.
I fish mainly a mix of clean and semi rough ground, Plenty of power for distance casting, really good bite detection, A really good tool, well worth its money
These bait clips I've found are quite cheap and when your putting them on your line the bottom of the bait clip sometimes snaps and they were genuine bait clips from brakaway. One of the only bait clips that allows big hooks and big baits to be clipped down.
Used the Asso Invisilk for both as mainline and as hook lengths for in the rivers recently. Works great, good strength and goodknot strength..
I have been using these for years now and they always release without fail I have tried other types of bait clips but always come back to these. Best bait clip going fact!
The first product I bought off Dave was the rig tidy, I broke it while fitting (totally my fault) without hesitation I received a replacement despite saying it was my own fault. Top bloke and top products.
This is a fantastic piece of kit. I have one for shore fishing and if you are thinking of doing the same the first thing you need to do is get the reel magged which is what I done. It is very light and well built and just shouts quality as soon as you pick up. Casting is a delight and although designed as a boat reel, once magged it is a competent casting reel on par with any other shore reel. The ratchet/ clicker is the same quality as that of the black and gold Saltist's. The lever drag is very well thought out. Bring the drag right back it goes into free spool for casting and as you move it forward the drag increases the resistance. A mark on top of the reel indicates where to set the drag for striking, and you can move the drag a little more forward to increase the resistance further ideal for breaking free of snags. The drag can be fine tuned for the breaking strain of you line by the dial on the side of the lever drag. The retrieve is smooth and quick ideal when chasing up a slack liner, or fishing rough ground where a quick retrieve can make a difference when recovering your end tackle. The torque is nice too where you still have to play the fish and not winch it in. It is well balanced and looks awesome in the black and red. It is a high quality reel as you would expect from Daiwa. It is not a cheap reel by any mean, but for the high speed retrieve and lever drag it is reasonably priced and the quality makes it worth every penny. Daiwa has done it again, keep up the great work.
Great clips I use for fishing great and strong they never fail me I allso use for casting easy and quick to put and take sinker off n on great product and good price
I've received some of these hooks, and on testing strength and sharpness, they appear excellent. Love the pattern. I've yet to fish with them so will update my review when I have.
They have saved my arse on more than one occasion, let me tell you! Improve your grip, improve your fishing and be safe!
I have one of these and let me down first time using it winding in a cod about 2lb the reel locked up and went really tight to reel in. Never used it since
Probably one of the best tapered shiockeaders out there. I like to use these on my smaller multipliers with light lines but more importantly on a fixed spool continental outfit when using braid to keep the leader knot as small as possible.
Great line great for rough ground I've used for years never let's me down and great price highly recommended
Loved this rod for short work and fishing cuts Sadly snapped top 2 inch storing it ready made up I fixed it with another tip eye not as good but still works
Having been a zziplex low reel pendulum caster for the last 20 years or so..I was somewhat reluctant to change to 3 piece rods and fixed spool reels but some extremely good anglers were making the switch so I thought I'd get myself a Cobra GT 4.2 to see what it was like... Well..I was so impressed with it that I have now sold all my Zziplexes and multis and got myself a pair of 4.2 Cobras teamed up with a pair of Shimano Ultegra xsc reels. Christchurch Angling have supplied me with 6 teflon spools and low diameter mono to cover all options and I honestly believe these rods will do everything I need. .the power is incredible but with a superb tip and the more I use them the more I'm getting out of them. I won't be swinging lead ever again..there's no need to. .just a Brighton Cast goes a long way..I'm am a very happy Cobra user .
A single leg 'KWAG' ideal guide for the top 4 guides of a lighter beach rod or throughout on a Bass rood etc
I went out with Guided Fishing Norway last March and it honestly was the trip of a lifetime! John has done so much research and knows the area so well that there is no need to waste time looking for marks or working out what tides to fish them on and yet if you wish there are also an endless supply of untried marks to try. My goal was to try and catch a halibut from the shore, I knew it was a great place to target them but they are by no means a sure thing so I was over the moon to land 5 up to almost 30lb! I even hooked (but didn't land) one shading with a 100gm spinning rod. We also had great sport with cod to near double figures on shads, well over 20lb on bait, plus quality coalies, wolf fish, plaice etc. I didn't try any of the really deep marks but they're definitely on my list for next time with the chance of many species you wouldn't think of getting from the shore. I did try one reasonably deep mark, it took a couple of minutes for the lead to reach the bottom and was rewarded with s double figure lumb. The scenery every where is amazing including the views from the house looking toward the saltstraumen whirl pools. The house is cozy and well equipped and there are several marks within walking distance. Don't forget to try the petrol station burgers, just don't work out how much they cost in pounds! In short I cannot recommend John and Guided Fishing Norway highly enough, it could be the difference between a frustrating holiday and a trip of a lifetime!
Had mine for 4 years now and its still going strong. Great size box and small and light enough to carry on longer walks, teamed with the seatbox Sherpa.
Very disappointed with the Primo Synchro's, I have two and find the action of the rods to be somewhere between pants and total pants, far better rods out there to do the same task for half the price.
Excellent service from all the team at VMO. Super fast delivery, usually next day. Always happy to advise on tackle.
Bloody great reel. This was my first multiplier and was worried about getting nests all the time. However started off with the brakes on full, then eased them off as time went on. Well built and well worth the money
I dont normally use any other persons tigs uless i have tied them myself. Although i thought id try these rigs no problems what so ever made of top quality components keep up the good work super match A*
Could start by saying how deceptively powerful the rod is, but its not deceptive with a great name like century behind it you know the rod is going to be up to the challenge.I fish Chesil with the rod in strong tides and high winds and it does a fantastic job of standing up to the conditions. 5oz Whole squid full power pendulum is no trouble for this rod, absolutley love it. The bite detection is next level as well, a pout 3 inches long caught at 150 yards looks more like bass bite than a minnow, cant fault great work century
I've been using asso oblivion for a while now and I've found it has superb knots and very strong. Very affordable line and can handle good sized fish aswell
