An expensive bit of kit, but worth every penny. A great investment and a must have for all specimen hunters IMHO. Why? Good line capacity, strong stainless steel gears, very fast retrieve, a quick release drag (invaluable with any fish that takes line) excellent handle for cranking, easy to grip spool and super smooth on the cast (when magged) Please note - don't buy the 20s, the 30s are the ones to have. Buy one, try it out, because you won't be disappointed! Before you know it you'll probably 3!

This reel is now my preferred one for Norwegian big fish trips. When magged up it casts well even with large baits. Unlike other '30s' the profile is small enough to easily get a good thumb grip on which helps when fishing in cold icey conditions.

My number one choice of reel for almost all my fishing these days. Not only is the reel a cranking beast, but properly mag converted (I use Macey Mags), it is a casting dream too. I downsize to the 20 equivalent for my lighter bass rods, but the 30 is still surprisingly small because of the very narrow side plates. Most of the reel is spool - very easy to get your thumb over and control.
